I'm back in the office this afternoon after meeting a good friend for lunch. I want to tell you a little bit about him because although our lunch was purely social, the discussion we had holds a big message for you. My friend is one of these guys with a really crazy amount of talent. By day he is a massage therapist at a local spa. That's how I met him.
I guess you could say he rubs me the right way.
No kidding - this guy is amazing at what he does to work out the kinks and the knots. When he's not working someone over on the massage table he's also a voice artist. This is something him and I have in common since I have been doing voiceover work for many years. And when he's not in the spa or the studio he's a really great artist.
Are you kidding me - no one should be THAT talented.
But he is and that's the point I want to make. Even though he possesses and uses these talents daily, and he's very good at everything he does, the topic of our discussion was about some troubles he's been experiencing lately. Monetary troubles - ugh. You would think all of his skills would make him a very successful person.
But it's hard to keep a successful mindset with bill collectors at the door.
So I helped him lay out a few plans to get him out of his current dilemma and back on the right path. But the first thing I asked him was how long ago he decided he wanted to live his life unsuccessfully broke. He knows me well enough he didn't take offense to that comment and asked me why I felt it was his decision.
Easy - because it was.
Why so - because it certainly wasn't anyone else's decision. Stay with me on this - nobody actually sits down and consciously decides they want to be a failure. However, unconsciously you've got all this stuff bouncing around in your brain people have told you over the years. Friends, family, teachers, ministers, you name it - it comes from everywhere.
While none of them meant you any harm - their message was very harmful.
Wealthy people are bad people - you can't be successful without a college education - you'll never be as good as your brother - it's impolite to ask for help - you can't be successful working at a pawn shop. You know what I'm talking about. And you hear this stuff so often that unconsciously you begin to believe it.
And if you unconsciously believe it's true - it becomes your reality.
So I gave my friend a few simple processes he could start to do immediately to get rid of his unsuccessful mindset and start utilizing all of his talents to attract greater success in his life. I know him well enough to know he'll actually do it. And you know what - it will turn things around for him quickly. Quicker than even he thinks.
When we left the restaurant he looked like I had lifted the weight of the world off his shoulders.
All I really did was change his thinking. That's because everything you do in your life - everything you accomplish - begins with thought. The Pawn Shop Performer(tm) coaching program will have you thinking in a brand-new way - in a way you've probably never thought before. Any talents you possess will not bring you success if you're not thinking properly.
In Commitment to your Success,
Stephen Krupnik
