A Few Heartbeats Away

I read an article this morning about a doctor who is supposedly one of the leading experts in the world on death. Hmmm, don't think I'll be hiring him as my doctor anytime soon. I was having a difficult time grasping what criteria was used to consider this good doctor a leading expert on death. In my mind - one thing disqualified him.

The fact that he was still breathing.

Don't get me wrong - I'm sure this gentleman is quite knowledgeable on the subject matter. But for some reason I think labeling someone as an expert at something that they have not experienced firsthand - at least not yet - is somehow misleading. I can't help but feel he's a few heartbeats away from becoming a true expert.

Maybe I'm just sensitive about the word expert.

That's because I have been called one too. I couldn't disagree more. Sure, I do consulting in the pawnbroking industry and have been a pawnbroker for over 30 years. Does that make me an expert - I think not. That just makes me experienced. I also do additional business consulting and coaching outside of our industry.

But yet - in my mind I'm not an expert on business.

Just a savvy business person who's always hungry to learn more. Of course, I do success coaching in the Pawn Shop Performer(tm) coaching program - however, I'm no expert on success. I consider myself a student of success, and it shouldn't be a big surprise to you that what I have learned has made me wildly successful.

That's because I love to implement what I've learned.

By training myself to do what other successful people do - my outcome is inevitable. So is yours. You just have to be willing to do it. You will actually become an expert.

An expert on what's right for you. An expert on how to think and act successfully. An expert on deciding what you want in your life - and then actually getting it. And above all else, you will become an expert at treating yourself better than you have ever been treated before so you can attract what you desire in your life.

I believe you deserve that - don't you.
